B.O.R.N. Equity Crowdfunding: Democratizing company ownership: How an ordinary person can become a company owner and receive a passive income.

Equity Crowdfunding is a new way to invest in either new ventures, or small businesses that are expanding and requires money for the expansion.

The public and investors contribute to worthy business causes in exchange for equity shares in the company.

Raising capital alongside multiple sources reduces the investment risk to individual investors and through social media campaigns, the businesses stay in touch with their audience and keep them informed about the progress of the venture.

This platform is closely linked to the B.O.R.N. Initiative (Build Our Rainbow Nation). The initiatives will receive support during both the startup phase as well as the growth phase in the company in exchange for a portion of equity share in the company.

Our phased approach

Phase 1 – Getting the word out

The first part of the initiative is to publicize your intention with a campaign. This crowdfunding exercise will focus creating initial internet and social media awareness.

Phase 2 – Connecting the stakeholders / investors

The second part of the initiative is to visit and bring the stakeholders on board. Stakeholders / investors will consist of:

• Business and Media;
• Business professionals from the B.O.R.N. initiative to serve as an expert panel guiding you;
• Government; and
• The public.

Phase 3 - Go-Live of your business

Phase 3 will be the launch of your business. During this phase the media campaign will be intensified via all the stakeholder groups and widened to the bigger public audience.

This phase may include bigger media coverage on the internet and social media via podcasts and national television coverage.

This phase will be funded via public, government and business investment and will require listing of the company to enable the company to issue shares to the investors.
